Value Asset Management was formed to invest in privately owned asset management firms. Formed with the partial backing of BancBoston Capital in 1997, VAM made investments in four subsidiary firms, including Dalton, Greiner (Sold to Boston Private Financial Holdings), Hillview Capital Advisors (sold to Asset Management Investment Company PLC), MDTA LL(Sold to Federated Investors), and Grosvenor Capital Management (sold to Grosvenor management).
