The idea for The Anchor Fund came out of the founders' work with the DC Volunteer Lawyers Project (DCVLP), which provides pro-bono legal services to victims of domestic violence. Over time, it became apparent that many of the DCVLP clients needed additional support in order to break free from the cycle of violence. The Anchor Fund was founded as a way to provide these families with basic needs, such as food and housing, to help them reach longterm safety and stability. We will continue to follow up with the families whenever possible to help ensure their continued security.
