In 1989, three entrepreneurial professionals founded ARC Financial Corp. (previously known as PowerWest Financial). The company focused on providing corporate advisory services and in-depth investment research. During the early years, the company also invested in the equity of early stage energy companies and in producing assets. The growth of ARC's production asset business led to the founding of the ARC Energy Trust in 1996 (TSX - ARX). In 1997, ARC's corporate advisory, research and equity investment businesses evolved into an exclusive focus on private equity investing. Since then, ARC has raised eleven energy focused private equity funds totaling over $6.3 billion of committed capital from institutional investors across the globe. The ARC Energy Funds provide growth equity capital to companies operating across the energy spectrum.
