Small business owners can receive tips and updates about starting or improving their company with a new smartphone app.
As a gift to the Small Business Administration from Palo Alto Software in Eugene, Oregon, an iPhone app has been created for small business owners.
SBA mobile will provide owners with a variety of features and benefits related to small business news, and is designed for users who are starting a new business or hoping to improve on an existing one.
"Increasingly, smartphones are the vehicle through which Americans access information," said Karen G. Mills, SBA administrator. "This is certainly true of many entrepreneurs and small business owners, and this new application ensures they will have access to SBA’s resources and programs – literally at their fingertips."
Features of the app include the ability to connect users with SBA district office staff and mentors who can provide free, personalized small business assistance. Plus, a built-in startup cost calculator to help estimate the expenses associated with getting a business off the ground. In addition, an SBA partner locator can help users find SBA offices across the nation.
Dayton Business Journal reports app users will also have access to SBA video content, social media alerts and live updates from the association's YouTube channel and Twitter feed.
