Intel's Social Media Specialist: Small Businesses Need Social Media Plan That Works For Them

While there hasn't been much clear news for small businesses on which way to take their social media campaign, Jesse Thomas' Forbes blog spoke with Intel's social media strategist Ekaterina Walter, who said businesses need to see what works for them.
While there hasn't been much clear news for small businesses on which way to take their social media campaign, Jesse Thomas' Forbes blog spoke with Intel's social media strategist Ekaterina Walter, who said businesses need to see what works for them.
"It is not up to us to say how much time a business owner should spend on social media marketing," Walter told Thomas, who is the founder of creative interactive agency JESS3. "Social media is definitely time-consuming. To truly connect with your customers on a personal level, you have to put forth a lot of effort."
In a post on Growth University, multiple experts were asked how small businesses should use social media. Steve Garfield, author of Get Seen: Online Video Secrets to Building Your Business, said the most effective way a small business can use social media is to think of it as having a conversation with a friend.
Garfield said that social media should be about business second and social first. He said businesses are made up of people, and that's exactly what social media is; people.
