SMBs Must Create Loyal Employees To Experience Success

Small businesses have downsized in recent years, requiring employees to take on additional tasks and responsibilities. In order to keep morale high and a business successful, it is important that owners cultivate a trusting and loyal work environment that is focused on cooperation and not stress.
Small businesses have limited resources and tight budgets. Every employee in a small business is valued as they contribute to a significant portion of the company's successes and failures. Mike Michalowicz, author of The Toilet Paper Entrepreneur, recently wrote in a piece for Open Forum that small business owners should spend time cultivating loyal employees because they can greatly benefit a company's profits and return on investments.
Michalowicz said small business owners should first recognize which employees are naturally loyal and which ones are not. It is better to fill an office with loyal workers than risk employing one who has a reputation for going against his or her employer. In addition, to encourage loyalty in the office, owners should show loyalty to their workers as well. Showing respect, praise and flexibility, as well as giving out small rewards, can demonstrate to an employee that he or she is a valued member of the team, which will foster loyalty.
Business News Daily reported that working with a small staff can make the business environment very stressful. Staff are usually juggling multiple tasks and working long hours, while owners are overwhelmed with duties and have no time to de-stress. If the boss is stressed, the rest of the office will feel it and the tension will hurt productivity.
To avoid stressful work environments, the news source recommends small business owners try certain tricks to not get overwhelmed. Owners can outline their day in the morning to feel organized and prepared for their tasks ahead, or set aside time to go for a walk to recharge the mind and body. In addition, owners should encourage their employees to practice similar techniques to help their day be more stress free.
