SBA Announces Hawaii Small Business Award Winners

The SBA has announced its Small Business Award winners for the state of Hawaii.
The U.S. Small Business Administration has big news for entrepreneurs in Hawaii - the announcement of the state's Small Business Award winners.
Twenty-eight business advocates, owners and leaders will be honored at a luncheon at the end of the month, Lahaina News reports.
SBA Award winners are chosen after nominees face evaluation on factors such as revenue growth, response to adversity, innovation, and contributions to their communities.
According to the paper, Matias Besasso and Brad Albert, co-owners of Rising Sun LLC, are the Maui Small Business Persons of the Year.
This year's Family Owned Small Business Award will go to Bill and Maureen Marrs of Marmac Inc. The award recognizes small businesses which are family owned and operated, and which create jobs and provide opportunities to family members.
Leslie Mullens of Playbook Consulting Group will receive the Financial Services Champion Award, given to individuals who commit to helping small businesses improve their financial positions.
The title of Small Business Person of the Year for the state of Hawaii will go to Steven Balridge, president of Balridge and Associates Structural Engineering.
SBA award winners from around the country will gather in Washington, D.C. in May for National Small Business Week. The event will run for three days, and will feature the announcement of the National Small Business Person of the Year.
