The Buy Local campaign in Forest Grove, Oregon, is aimed at increasing the city's small business visibility.
A committee of local businesses in Forest Grove, Oregon, are attempting to gauge the spending habits of its residents to strengthen its economy, according to The Tigard Times.
The Buy Local campaign is important news for the city's small businesses, as Forest Grove has partnered with Adelante Mujeres, a local non-profit organization to improve its overall economic health, and encourage a greater variety of companies to relocate to the Oregon neighborhood.
Buy Local's committee hopes to gain input from the community and local retailers about its needs and opportunities within the city through surveys for residents, consumers and local business owners, the media outlet adds.
"We hope to have many returned surveys," Kati Mayfield, committee member, told the news source. "We want to put together a buy local program that will entice shoppers and produce great results for local businesses."
The Tigard Times reports that the surveys will determine what keeps consumers in town, and what prompts them to spend their money elsewhere.
According to its homepage, Adelante Mujeres is focused on giving immigrant families the tools they need to succeed in areas such as education, empowerment and enterprise.
