Tools And Strategies Available To Small Businesses

Federal agencies and academic institutions are doing their part to help small businesses succeed. The SBA and MBDA are hosting a conference to devise business strategies to help small firms experience growth.
The Minority Enterprise Development Week Conference will take place at the end of September, recognizing minority entrepreneurs and promoting small business growth strategies. The U.S. Small Business Administration and the Department of Commerce's Minority Business Development Agency will host the event, which aims to bring minority business owners, government officials and corporate representatives together to discuss different strategies small businesses can use to experience growth in the uncertain economic climate.
At the conference, the SBA will offer workshops on improving access to lending and government contracting programs, and how to use social media to increase business growth. In addition, there will be a business expo and tradeshow, business-to-business matchmaking sessions and a small business town hall to foster discussions on the Small Business Jobs Act.
Targeting a specific niche of small businesses, the Concord Law School's Small Business LL.M. Program recently announced it will host a webinar that will provide small law firms specializing in small business law with guidance on selecting technology applications and equipment pertaining to their field.
Understanding that all small businesses are experiencing drastic budget cuts in the face of increasing competition, the program is working to provide recent law school graduates and rookie attorneys with practical knowledge and insight on the various legal issues that pertain to small businesses. The program offers participants courses developed and taught by practitioners and academics on the issues that are most important to start-ups and small enterprises.
