Twitter gains popularity in the corporate world.
A recent MarketingProfs.com survey found that more businesses are looking towards the social networking platform, Twitter, in order to increase their prominence or remain more connected to their industry.
The informally conducted poll showed that 84 percent of respondents think that their company will use Twitter with increasing regularity in the upcoming six months.
This is useful news for small businesses that may have considered a foray into social networking, but are unsure of whether or not others are using these tools.
Furthermore, 66 percent of respondents consider Twitter to be either "somewhat" or "extremely important" when it comes to marketing and general businesses.
Chief content officer of MarketingProfs, Ann Handley, commented on the results, expressing that this survey provides useful news for small businesses, indicating that owners should take Twitter more seriously.
"This data shows that Twitter users… no longer think of Twitter as just a personal networking tool, but as something that can provide real value for their company or business," she stated.
Twitter had 17 million American visitors in the month of April, recent comScore data revealed, indicating the sites's increasing traffic and potential popularity.
