Research Indicates Digital Video Set To Be Wave Of The Future For Online Marketing

Shifting advertising dollars to the online video sector could be a smart move, one company says.
The results of a pair of linked surveys from online video advertising firm YuMe could be good news for small business owners, as that company asserts marketing dollars may give better performance in the digital video sector than elsewhere.
YuMe's chief revenue officer, Scot McLernon, said the idea behind the two studies - one based on Nielsen data and the other carried out by Frank N. Magid Associates - was to clarify the role of online video.
"Online video is the fastest growing segment of online advertising but it's a confusing topic for many marketers and brand managers. We worked with both of these esteemed research companies to provide data that would help dispel the confusion around how to weave a cross-platform online video campaign into existing campaigns and future projects," he said.
The company said that 66 percent of those surveyed said they watched more video online than they did a year ago, adding that a test company - which was not named - saw growth in several demographics as a result of a partial shift to digital video.
