NFIB Supports Baker, Expresses Frustration With Incumbent Mass. Governor

Group says current Mass. governor not looking out for small businesses
The National Federation of Independent Business recently endorsed the Republican candidate for Governor in Massachusetts after trying and failing to work with Democrat Deval Patrick, who currently serves as governor of the commonwealth and is up for reelection in the latest news for small business.
In supporting Charlie Baker, the NFIB said small business owners in the state needed a better advocate than what they had.
“On behalf of our 8,000 members in Massachusetts, we’ve been trying for four years to work with the administration on policies that would help small businesses and stimulate real job growth,” said Bill Vernon, the federation's state director. “His policies, and the economic data, make it clear that he hasn’t been listening.”
Vernon also said that Baker had a "practical understanding" of small business based on years working in the private sector. He said that Patrick had not made the state any more business-friendly since he took over and that it was still too expensive to run a business in Massachusetts.
Baker also recently received an endorsement from the State Police Association of Massachusetts. Baker, who has called out organized labor in the past for wielding too much power, accepted the endorsement of the group, which represents 1,900 officers.
