Kauffman Foundation Awards 2010's Promising Young Entrepreneurial Scholars

This week, the Kauffman Foundation announced 2010's recipients of the Kauffman Emerging Scholars Program fellowships. The program recognizes the achievements of students who are making significant contributions to research in entrepreneurship - and whose studies could offer useful news to small business owners.
This week, the Kauffman Foundation announced 2010's recipients of the Kauffman Emerging Scholars Program fellowships. The program recognizes the achievements of students who are making significant contributions to research in entrepreneurship - and whose studies could offer useful news to small business owners.
This is one of the Kauffman Foundation's many programs designed to promote entrepreneurship as an important field of study. The Emerging Scholars Program helps students earn doctoral degrees and conduct research early in their careers. Moreover, it rewards ground-breaking research on entrepreneurship.
This year's recipients come from universities spanning the nation, and each boasts a unique research topic. Winning scholars will receive $50,000 fellowships to continue their research at their designated universities.
Foundation officials hope these fellowships will pay off for small businesses nationwide. "Even though entrepreneurship is key to a sustainable economy, we have limited knowledge of this vital practice," said Carl Schramm, president and CEO of the Kauffman Foundation. "We hope these outstanding researchers will go on to teach and study entrepreneurship throughout their careers."
Many universities likely share this hope; according to a separate study from the Kauffman Foundation, colleges are currently expanding their entrepreneurial training programs to help prepare tomorrow's businesses leaders.
