Bank lent out a total of $59 million
A bank in Ohio is getting high praise for its small business lending from a government agency's local office.
The U.S. Small Business Administration's Cleveland District Office announced that Huntington led all banks in the total number of loans at 365, total dollars with $59 million and minority lending at $8 million. This represents the second year in a row that Huntington has led the region, lending out four times more than its nearest competitor.
The SBA's district director, Gil Golberg, said that the bank was doing more for entrepreneurs than any other bank in its section of Ohio.
"I am pleased to recognize The Huntington National Bank for their strong commitment to making capital available to Northern Ohio small business owners," said Goldberg. "Huntington Bank recognizes that small business growth is a vital component of our economy, and they are working hard to meet the demand for loans from the small businesses in our area."
Huntington National Bank made other news for entrepreneurs by extending credit to a Michigan insurance company. Fremont Michigan InsuraCorp received USD7m unsecured credit line from the lender.
