Group says Congressman has introduced legislation that would harm small business
A Representative from Pennsylvania is getting some unwanted attention from a pro-business group, for what it claims is an unfriendly stance on small business.
The American Small Business League has named Representative Jason Altmire as the most anti-small business members of Congress for various pieces of legislation that would hurt entrepreneurs around the country. Among the group's biggest gripes was the Congressman's introduction of H.R. 3567, the Small Business Investment Expansion Act, which would have changed how small businesses were defined under the law.
"Jason Altmire is the epitome of the type of person who should not be in Congress. He is a coldblooded lobbyist who was willing to push legislation that would have shut down small businesses across the country," ASBL president Lloyd Chapman said. "I will do everything I can to make sure he's not reelected. People need to quit listening to what Congressman Altmire says and start looking at what he has done."
The ASBL made news for small business recently when it urged Congress to add language to the recently passed small business lending legislation to ensure that the funds only went to small businesses. Chapman said that adding the new language was a "no brainier."
