The world's largest restaurant chain had some big franchising news this week, as McDonald's Corporation announced that it should be opening up an outlet per day in China in the next four years in order to compete with Yum! Brands for fast-food supremacy, according to Bloomberg.
"We should be opening a restaurant every day in the next three to four years," said McDonald's company president for Asia, excluding Japan, Peter Rodwell to the news source. "We're now opening a restaurant every other day."
Bloomberg said McDonald's franchise restaurants may account for as much as 20 percent of the total franchises within six years. Rodwell said the company is looking to have 2,000 restaurants open by 2013. It plans to recruit 50,000 employees in China this year.
McDonald's seems to continuously expand its franchises across the world. The Hindustan Times website reports that Bosnia got its very first McDonald's franchise at the end of July.
The company is currently interviewing for single-location entrepreneurs who have $500,000 in their own cash in the United States.
