New World Coffee is a division of New World Restaurant Group, Inc. (NWRG), which owns Einstein Bros Bagels, Noah's Bagels, Chesapeake Bagel Bakery, Manhattan Bagel, New World Coffee and Willoughby's Coffee & Tea.
NWRG began offering franchises in 1997, converting numerous company-owned stores to franchise locations. New World Coffee consists of franchised and company-owned stores.
The first New World Coffee shop was launched in Manhattan's Greenwich Village in 1993. The 270-square-foot shop, inspired by the flair of European cafés, served coffee from Africa, South America and Indonesia, plus breakfast pastries and Italian panini sandwiches for lunch.
