Interview with SlimTree.com Founder Jas Singh
Jas Sing, a serial entrepreneur, shares with us his experiences starting a production company and Web TV channel.
SlimTree, founded in 2004, has an innovative approach to bringing fitness and health programs into viewers' homes.
Tell me about your current business. What are you doing exactly?
SlimTree.com , Inc. is a leading production company and Web TV channel dedicated to creating original, best-of-breed free access fitness and wellness programming available to consumers on-demand via the Internet and offline with select portable devices.
What is your professional background and what is your current role at Slimtree?
I founded Slimtree with a vision of merging top quality online fitness and wellness programming with 21st Century technologies so consumers may benefit from Ultimate Exercise Mobility. Now I maintain complete management responsibility for the company and its two primary on-demand Web TV channels at www.slimtree.com and www.MySpace.com, including product/service development, technology deployments and integrations, marketing, finance, international operations and business development.
With over 20 years of experience of owning and operating companies, I am a successful, serial entrepreneur with a long and varied business background. I served as President for eCom networks, an Internet retailer since sold to a private investor, President of Napaville Homes, Inc., a developer and builder of single family homes, and Managing Director of Madera Tech' LLC, a developer of commercial and industrial parks with modern, high tech' infrastructures.
Currently I have two patents pending - one for Slimtree.com's proprietary video download methodology and the other for the company's food-based fitness program undergoing R&D.
Who are your main competitors? How do you compete against them?
Our main competitors are www.demandfitness.com, www.efitness.com, www.exercisetv.tv
We compete against them in several ways.
1. We only use "Certified" Fitness Instructors
2. We own 100% of all copyrights, titles to all videos
3. Superior quality professional production and editing
4. We are an official Myspace.com branded T.V, channel and partner
5. We're fostering a unique social network
6. Membership and video usage is compeltely free
What have you done that has been very effective in helping to grow the business?
