Nitro PDF Reader Review
Free PDF Creation Software
As addicted as we are to Adobe Reader, we were skeptical when asked to try out Nitro PDF Reader. Having used Nitro PDF for a few weeks, however, it's become our favorite free PDF creation software. We are convinced that it's a great alternative to Adobe Reader and we continue to use it, rather than Adobe Reader.
Adobe Reader is the dominant software product for viewing, printing and collaborating on PDF files, but Nitro PDF Software's alternative to Adobe Reader has recently emerged as a better solution for business professionals.
Those who like the free price of Adobe Reader but want free PDF creation functionality -- something that is not available in Adobe Acrobat – will truly find value in Nitro PDF Reader.
Chris Dahl, Nitro's CTO, is on record as saying the company wants to "provide a no-strings-attached, truly free PDF reader that does everything users want and nothing they don't."
With the latest release of Nitro PDF Reader, the company has come close to achieving that vision.
In terms of noteworthy features, Nitro PDF Reader users can add comments, annotations and markups for digital collaboration, fill and save PDF forms, stamp signatures, extract text and images, and type text directly onto the PDF file.
That's just a small sampling of the functionality that's available to Nitro PDF Reader users. We evaluated Nitro PDF Reader on the following dimensions: PDF Creation; Conversion and Extraction of Content; Collaboration and Review; PDF Forms; and Support and Usability.
In each of these areas, Nitro PDF offered myriad features that are not available in Adobe Acrobat Reader while matching the functionality of Adobe Acrobat Reader in all important areas. It's therefore not surprising at all that the free download of Nitro PDF Reader has been accessed more than 20 million times.
Free PDF Creation
The strongest benefit of Nitro PDF Reader, to our minds, is free PDF creation. As you may or may not know, Adobe Reader doesn't offer PDF creation; you have to buy Adobe Acrobat Pro to get that and the software retails for a costly $450.
Of course, Nitro's free PDF creation software that is built in to Nitro PDF reader doesn't have all of the features of Adobe Acrobat Professional, but what can you expect? It's FREE!
Even though it's free software, Nitro Reader does many of the services of a professional product, and many businesses and individual professionals will find that it meets all of their needs for working with PDFs.
Long story short, giving the free Nitro PDF Reader a try is a no-brainer. It's a fast, fully-featured, and free PDF authoring solution that will meet almost all of your PDF needs. Plus, there's no advertising built into the product and no compulsory registration.
By the way, if you need more PDF creation and manipulation features than those offered by Nitro PDF Reader, you can buy Nitro PDF Professional for a fraction of Adobe Acrobat Professional and get equivalent, and in many cases better, functionality.
